Founded in 1999, the Center for Transnational and Comparative Studies (TCS) is a unit of International Studies at Florida International University (FIU) dedicated to internationalizing education for students of all ages in South Florida. The Center is one of FIU’s research engines, supporting faculty and student research projects in diverse and cross-cutting fields. TCS cultivates scholarly expertise on issues of global importance among faculty and students through curricular and outreach programs, particularly in the areas of Europe, the Middle East and International Migration, to address local, regional and international needs. TCS is home to the Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence and to European Studies and its undergraduate certificate program. The Center is proud to serves as a bridge between campus and community, providing curricular innovation, internationalizing campus and community by bringing research into the classroom and students into real-life experiences. International Studies – International Careers and Transnational Childhoods are a prime example of the bridges TCS has innovated and supports.
